At Monite, we've always believed in building ahead of the curve. We were early to embedded finance, early to API-first architecture, and now we're implementing our next big move: an AI-first company strategy that transforms how we operate.
Furthermoree’re deeply inspired by the ideas in Superagency - particularly the notion that AI enables individuals and companies to scale their impact far beyond traditional limits.
However, this isn't a vague promise or a siloed project. Instead, it's a cross-functional transformation. Specifically, from engineering and operations to marketing and customer support, every team at Monite is engaging with AI (not just to keep up with the market, but to lead it).
Here’s how we’re doing it and what’s already in motion.
Why Our AI-First Company Strategy Matters
Although the hype around AI is loud, the opportunity is even louder.
Clearly, AI isn't just about automating a few processes or generating text. It’s about building a new kind of company: one where tools work for you, insights emerge in real-time, and teams are empowered to do their best work at scale.
At Monite, we see a clear opportunity to:
Increase speed and precision across product development and customer experience
Reduce reliance on manual tools or high-cost SaaS stacks
Build unique product features that use AI to bring real value to our platform partners and their customers
This AI-first company strategy isn't a reaction to industry pressure. It’s a strategic decision to sharpen our edge and redefine how we operate.
We’re Built for This
Monite isn’t trying to bolt AI into legacy workflows. We’re already operating with the kind of infrastructure that makes an AI-first strategy not just possible, but a natural progression.
First, we're API-first by design. Consequently, our product is modular, composable, and ready to connect with the AI ecosystem.
Additionally, we're technically mature. Therefore, our team understands what it takes to move fast while remaining secure and compliant, especially in regulated financial contexts.
Moreover, we're culturally aligned. As a result, innovation isn't just encouraged, it's expected. We don’t need to convince teams to use AI. They’re already asking how far they can push it.
That foundation means we’re not asking if we should adopt AI. We’re asking where else we can use it.
Our AI-First Strategy Memo
To kick off the shift, we shared an internal AI Memo - a clear statement of intent from our leadership team. The memo outlined:
Why AI matters now
What it means for Monite’s future
How every team can get involved (from engineers to marketers, from support staff to leadership)
The message was simple: AI isn’t someone else’s job. We challenged everyone at Monite to rethink their workflows.
And it didn’t stop at strategy. We moved straight into action with two ignition exercises.
Ignition 1: AI Hackathon (Technical and Product teams)
We kicked off with a company-wide AI Hackathon designed to explore how AI could enhance our technical and product workflows. Over three consecutive days, our Product and Technical teams paused all regular operations to concentrate entirely on developing AI-driven solutions with an AI-first approach.
The Product and Technical teams organized themselves into six distinct groups, with each team pinpointing a strategic initiative that would guide their hackathon efforts.
These initiatives fell into 3 categories:
AI Product initiatives for client's use
AI initiatives that streamline Product development processes
AI tech driven initiatives that improve our tech stack in an AI-first direction
The hackathon produced some excellent results, and we're now in the process of evaluating how these solutions can be refined and enhanced further. Teams have shared their feedback and insights, which we're using to assess next steps and identify opportunities for continued improvement.
Ignition 2: Build Your Own AI Agent (Non technical teams)
We then didn’t stop there. For Monite to truly become AI first, every single person at Monite (technical or not) had to be in the AI mindset. Therefore we launched a second ignition to task our non technical colleagues with building an AI agent.
The goal? Solve a real problem in your day-to-day work. It might be:
Replacing a repetitive task
Cutting the cost of a third-party tool
Improving how something works for your team or customers
We’re currently half way through this ignition and what’s exciting is the range of solutions we’re seeing. Some are low-code or no-code (built using tools like Zapier, Notion, or Airtable paired with LLMs). Others are complex workflows using OpenAI APIs, custom prompts, and fine-tuned models. No matter the approach, the brief is the same: build something that makes a real difference to your role.
We created a dedicated Slack channel where teams share progress. It creates a space for collaboration, experimentation, and shared learning (a great example of how quickly a strong culture can accelerate a new capability).
Expected Results from Our AI-First Strategy
We’re not chasing shiny objects. This comprehensive AI-first company strategy focuses on three key outcomes:
1. Operational Efficiency
Expect more to be done in less time. Without burning out teams or bloating spend. Whether it’s replacing tools or streamlining workflows, we’re using AI to unlock leverage.
2. Product Innovation
We're implementing specific AI capabilities that will transform our core offering. This includes AI-powered invoice collections and reminders that intelligently follow up with customers, AI invoice and quote creation, and an AI approval policy builder that creates custom workflows based on business requirements. These concrete applications will create smarter, faster, more automated experiences for our clients, partners and end users.
3. Faster Time to Market
Fewer manual processes mean shorter cycles between idea and execution. AI will help us ship better products to stay ahead of the competition.
Final Thought
In reality, becoming AI-first isn't about one big initiative.. It’s about a thousand small changes that add up to something transformational. At Monite, we’re not waiting to see how others adapt. We’re doing the work, one agent at a time.
If you're a vertical SaaS, Fintech or Neobank platform looking for a partner who doesn’t just follow innovation but builds it in from the ground up, Monite is here! And we’re just getting started.
Stay tuned to see what our innovative teams come up with and let us know how your business is becoming AI First.
